Speed limit changes will be painted in red this year


To improve the road safety, the RTA in Dubai decided to make some important changes regarding the speed limit in the city. Numerous parts of the roads will be painted in red to make drivers be attentive to the speed limit changes. The Oud Metha Street which is part of the Bu Kadrah interchange and the well-known Sheikh Zayed Road already suffered this kind of improvement, due to the reduced speed limit from 120 km/h to 100 km/h. The "Safe and Smooth Transport for All" is a major project of RTA in Dubai which aims to improve the traffic and to eliminate the accidents by using traffic safety strategies.
 

New infrastructure projects in Dubai

 
1. New Abu Dhabi - Dubai Highway

Abu Dhabi General Services Company, Musanada, has finished 83% of the new Abu Dhabi - Dubai freeway, while work is continuing as scheduled in conformity with the main guidelines to deliver the plan by the end of this year. The implementation of the new highway has tracked a complete study of the circumstances and volume of everyday traffic between Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The four-lane highway will have a capacity of 8,000 cars per hour.

2. Dubai Water Canal flyover on Sheikh Zayed Road

The second part of the Sheikh Zayed Road flyover, an element of the Dubai Water Canal project, was opened last year in July. The work on the 16-lane flyover started in November 2014 and in January this year, RTA unlocking the first part of the flyover for Sharjah-bound circulation.

3. Mafraq-Ghuwaifat Highway

The Abu Dhabi General Services Company (Musanada), in partnership with the Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport (DMAT), has completed 59% of the Mafraq - Ghuwaifat International Highway plan connecting western area towns and simplifying commercial transportation on the worldwide highway. 

The project contains the production of 15 new upper interchanges, sideways with elementary enhancements to the current interchanges at Hameem, Mafraq, Abu Al Abyad and Madinat Zayed interchanges, as well as main increases on the present interchanges, bringing the entire development works up to 246 km long. Dubai has the most recent, advanced and improved infrastructure of any other city in the area. The city’s road system participates meaningfully to its legendarily deluxe lifestyle and raises the driving quality for people who are passionate about their premium cars or their luxurious Dubai rental cars
