Short story of Maserati

Maserati is an Italian luxury car producer established on December 1, 1914, in Bologna, Italy. The Maserati brothers, Alfieri, Bindo, Carlo, Ettore, and Ernesto were all involved in the automobile business in Italy from the beginning of the 20th century. The trident logo of the Maserati car enterprise was inspired from the beautiful Fountain of Neptune in Bologna's Piazza Maggiore. In 1920, Mario, one of the Maserati brothers used the city’s symbol for creating the logo of the future important car enterprise.

In 1937, the Maserati brothers sold their dividends from the company to the Adolfo Orsi family, who in 1940 transferred the enterprise’s headquarters to their home town of Modena, where it remained until today.  The Maserati brothers continued to create engineering parts for the company and never stopped racing. When World War II began, Maserati ended the car production, in order to make machinery for the Italian army. During this time, the brothers worked in severe competition to build a Maserati V16 town car for Benito Mussolini, before Porsche or Volkswagen assembled one for Adolf Hitler.  Maserati returned to creating cars when the war was over and launched the well-known Maserati A6 series. 1957 comes with the outstanding Maserati 3500 GT, that marked a turning point in the brand's history. In 1968, Maserati was bought by French car producer Citroën. The first new arrival was the 1969 Maserati Indy, designed with four seats and a  traditional V8  engine. In the meantime, the 1973 oil crisis put the brakes on this determined development: the request for fuel-hungry sports cars shriveled radically.

Nowadays, sales continue to hit new altitudes and Maserati has extended its model line-up with its first-ever SUV, named Levante. The Maserati assortment covers the entire of the global luxury automotive, with models like Gran Turismo, Quattroporte, Ghibli and Gran Cabrio.
